House dance is the footwork-led club style that grew out of Chicago and New York house music scenes in the 1980s. It’s fast, fluid, footwork-heavy, and one of the most underrated street styles for kids who want technique and flow.

What kids learn
- House footwork vocabulary (Jack, Pas de Bourrée, Heel Toes, Skate)
- Lofting and jacking — the body movements that ride the music
- Floor work — comfort with low-to-the-ground movement
- Improvisation and freestyle
- Musicality with deep electronic/club rhythms
Who house suits
Strong fit: – Older kids (10+) — house requires aerobic stamina – Kids who love rhythm and footwork over pose work – Cross-trainers in hip-hop, locking, or popping wanting to expand – Kids drawn to club music and four-on-the-floor rhythms
Why house is undervalued for kids
Most Singapore studios don’t offer dedicated house classes for kids. We do, because: – House technique transfers beautifully to other styles – It builds aerobic stamina that helps every other dance form – The improvisational element teaches confidence – It’s a less crowded space — your daughter develops a niche
