Kids Hip Hop Dance Classes Singapore | Ages 6-16 | CSTD Certified

If your child loves the energy of hip hop, EV Dance is where she’ll learn it properly — without the rough edges some studios skip past.

We teach kids hip hop in Singapore from age 6 onwards, structured into three levels of skill and confidence. Our coaches are MOE-approved and NAC-AEP certified. Our Master Trainer, JJ Chan, holds the CSTD (Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing) Hip Hop certification — the highest pedagogical qualification for hip hop teachers worldwide.

What kids learn in our hip hop classes

Foundation (ages 6-9) – Basic groove — finding the music in the body – Body isolations — head, shoulders, chest, hips – Locomotor patterns — moving across the studio – Two-step, kick-ball-change, basic top-rock vocabulary – Group choreography — learning to dance with others, not just next to them

Intermediate (ages 10-12) – Old school vocabulary (Cabbage Patch, Running Man, Roger Rabbit) – New school freestyle approaches – Choreographic memory — holding 1-minute pieces – Performance presence — facing the audience deliberately – Light freestyle work — short improvised sections

Advanced / Teen (ages 13-16) – Foundation vocabulary across hip hop sub-styles (popping, locking, house) – Full choreographic pieces (2-3 minute) – Real freestyle confidence – Battle and cypher introduction (for kids who want it) – Performance-track preparation for SYF, competitions, and showcases

What makes our hip hop classes different

Real hip hop pedagogy. Many kids hip hop classes in Singapore are just adult choreography with kids in them. We teach hip hop the way it should be taught to kids — with attention to musicality, history (yes, kids learn where hip hop came from), and developmentally appropriate progression.

Age-appropriate music. We choose songs carefully. The choreography is sharp and fun without being unsuitable for young dancers.

Small classes. Max 15 per class. Every kid gets corrections from the coach, not just praise.

Pipeline to performance. Kids who want to compete or perform can move into our EV Elites advanced track. Many EV Dance students have taken their hip hop foundation into SYF Distinctions and international competition placings.
