If your daughter is in Primary 5 or 6, has been dancing for several years, and you’ve started looking at Direct School Admission as a pathway to a top secondary school — this is the page for you.

EV Dance has been coaching Singapore dance students since 2009. Our students have earned 180+ Singapore Youth Festival Distinctions and represented Singapore at international competitions. Our master trainer, JJ Chan, holds 22 international dance certifications and has personally coached dancers accepted into Methodist Girls’ School, Nanyang Girls’ High, Raffles Girls’ School, Crescent, CHIJ schools, and the School of the Arts.

This page is about how we help your child get ready for the audition. If you’re earlier in the journey and still figuring out which schools, which genre, and what’s even involved — start with our full DSA-Dance Singapore guide instead.

What’s included in our DSA prep programme

Our prep programme — EV Elites: DSA Track — is a 3-to-6-month, 1-to-1 coaching cycle designed around the specific school your daughter is auditioning for. It includes:

Twelve weekly 1-to-1 sessions with a senior coach

Hour-long sessions at our Waterloo Centre studio. The coach is matched to your daughter’s genre (ballet, Chinese dance, modern, contemporary). We work on technique refinement, audition combination drilling, and the prepared piece.

Audition portfolio video production

The video that most schools ask for. We shoot it in our studio with proper lighting, in landscape orientation, single continuous take, full-body framing. Most parents who try to film this themselves at home end up with portrait-orientation footage that’s cropped or poorly lit — that hurts auditions more than people realise.

Two mock auditions with a three-person panel

We simulate the full audition arc: warm-up, taught combination, solo piece, brief panel interview. Video the result. Debrief on what to adjust. Most candidates’ first mock is rough; by the second, the gap between prep performance and real audition shrinks significantly.

Interview preparation

Three to five focused sessions for the interview component. We’ve watched what schools ask in past cycles. The questions are predictable — but the answers need rehearsal. We help your daughter prepare answers that sound like her, not like a script.

School-specific guidance

We’ve prepared candidates for Methodist Girls’, Nanyang Girls’, Raffles Girls’, Singapore Chinese Girls’, Crescent, CHIJ schools, and SOTA in past cycles. Each school has its own audition rhythm. Our prep is tailored.

Optional: Junior Star spotlight content

If your daughter joins our Junior Star programme, she gets professional photos and a short documentary clip of her dance journey — additional material some schools allow as supplementary portfolio evidence.

Who this is for

DSA-Dance prep works best for dancers who:

It does not work well if:

If you’re not sure which category your daughter fits into, book a 20-minute consultation below. We’ll be honest with you. We’d rather not enrol a candidate who isn’t ready than take a fee and watch the audition go badly.

Meet our master trainer

JJ Chan founded EV Dance in 2009 and has been Singapore’s most-credentialed kids dance master trainer for over a decade. Her qualifications include CSTD Certified Hip Hop Teacher (highest qualification), Royal Academy of Dance Ballet certified, MOE-Approved Instructor, NAC-AEP Approved, and 17 other certifications spanning ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, Chinese dance and dance pedagogy.

Beyond credentials, what matters for your daughter’s DSA prep: JJ has personally coached 52 SYF Distinctions as a school dance coach, and she has lived experience preparing candidates for every major DSA-Dance pathway in Singapore.

Her team of 29 named senior and junior coaches all hold MOE-ERIS registration, NAC-AEP approval, and Child Protection Level 2 clearance.

Schools our students have reached via DSA-Dance

Past EV Elites students have been accepted into:

We don’t promise admissions. No coach can — admissions decisions belong to the schools. What we promise is that your daughter goes into her audition with the technique, the prepared piece, and the temperament to give her honest best.

Pricing

Custom — based on your daughter’s starting point, the school you’re targeting, and the prep timeline.

Typical range: S$3,000 to S$7,500 for a full P5-P6 prep cycle covering the 12 weekly sessions, audition video production, two mock auditions, and interview prep. Pricing is transparent — we’ll give you the full breakdown after the consultation.

We don’t believe higher cost guarantees admissions, and we don’t price-gouge. The range reflects scope — a 3-month sprint costs less than a 6-month cycle.

Book a consultation

The first conversation is free. 20 minutes, no commitment, no sales pitch. We’ll ask about your daughter’s dance background, look at any audition video she’s done, and tell you honestly whether DSA-Dance prep is the right next step — or whether the time is better spent elsewhere.
