Kids Ballet Classes Singapore | RAD + CSTD Foundation

Ballet is the foundation under most other dance forms — modern, jazz, contemporary, and even sharp K-pop choreography all benefit from a ballet base. EV Dance teaches ballet to kids in Singapore as part of a broader dance education, not as a pure RAD-graded ballet track.

When EV Dance ballet is right for your child

We’re a good fit if: – Your daughter wants ballet as part of broader dance training (modern, contemporary, jazz) – You’d prefer cross-training that includes ballet rather than a pure ballet-only pathway – Your daughter is interested in DSA-Dance via Modern Dance (where ballet foundation is essential — see DSA at MGS or SCGS)

We’re NOT the best fit if: – Your daughter wants to pursue formal RAD ballet grading as the primary goal (Grade 5, 6, 7, 8 with annual exam progression) – You’re aiming at vocational ballet school (e.g., Singapore Ballet Academy, vocational tracks abroad)

For pure RAD-track ballet, we recommend dedicated ballet schools like Cheng Ballet Academy, Young Dancers Academy, or Singapore Ballet’s own school. We’ll happily refer you.

What kids learn in our ballet classes

Ages 5-6 (Pre-Ballet) – Basic positions (1st, 2nd, 3rd of the feet) – Pliés, tendus, gentle stretches – Spatial awareness, posture, body alignment – The discipline of “barre” without strict barre-class structure – Story-led classes (ballet through play)

Ages 7-9 (Foundation Ballet) – Full barre vocabulary — pliés, tendus, dégagés, rond de jambe – Centre work — adage, simple combinations – Travel work — chassés, glissades – Basic jumps – Pointe-readiness assessment (no pointe shoes before age 11, per safe dance practice)

Ages 10-12 (Intermediate Ballet) – Pirouettes en dehors and en dedans – Adage with arabesques – Allegro combinations – Beginning pointe work (for students who meet readiness criteria)

Ages 13-16 (Teen Ballet + DSA Track) – Strong centre technique – Performance-ready repertoire – DSA audition preparation (for students targeting MGS, SCGS, RGS modern dance pathways — all of which use ballet foundation) – Cross-training in contemporary and jazz for versatility
