The Video Memento is the EV Dance tradition we’re proudest of. Every class — every age group, every style — gets a custom video at the end of each year.

EV Dance kids dance class at Waterloo Centre studio, Singapore

What it is (and isn’t)

It is: – A 1.5-3 minute video, choreographed by your daughter’s coach specifically for her class – Professionally filmed at our Waterloo Centre studio with proper lighting and a fixed camera – Edited with appropriate music and clean transitions – Delivered as a digital MP4 file to every parent in the class

It isn’t: – A recital recording (different — those are filmed by us at recital events) – A casual phone-shot clip – A generic montage

The piece is choreographed FOR the class. It uses moves they learned during the year. The coach picks the music. The whole thing takes about 4-6 weeks to prepare in late November / early December.

Why we do it

A year of dance class is a lot of work. Most of it disappears — kids learn pieces, perform them in class, and move on. Phone videos parents take are usually short, shaky, and forgettable.

The Video Memento is what kids look back at five years later when they want to remember being in dance. We’ve had parents tell us their daughter’s video memento from age 8 makes them cry every time they re-watch it at 16.

Logistics

Frequently asked

What if my daughter is camera-shy? She can dance in the back row or be partly framed-out if she prefers. We never force a child to be foregrounded.

What if we miss the filming day? We try to film twice to catch absences. If she misses both, she’s in the credits but not the choreography.

Do older kids / teens get one too? Yes — every class from Mini Hoppers (age 4) to Teen Elites. Style and tone shift with age.

Can we get the raw footage? The edited version is what we deliver. Raw footage stays in our archive.
